Ice Fishing adventures, Board Games and a little bit Starstruck

This past weekend was one for the books! It all started Friday night with the Kevin Hart show, and let me tell you—it did not disappoint. The man is hilarious. We laughed until our faces hurt, and for me, the night was extra special. I have always loved Kevin Hart, and when I finally saw him in person, I was completely starstruck. I’m talking tears almost shed, heart racing—the whole thing. It was one of those moments where you just can’t believe it’s real!  And, of course, spending this quality time with my son Cam always fill my heart with such joy. I do cherish our time together.

After that unforgettable night, we headed up north for some ice fishing at Cedar Lake in Aitken. Now, I’ve been (jokingly) saying for years that there are no fish in that lake, and this weekend only proved me right. We drilled several holes, set up the tip-ups, and waited… and waited… and waited. Nothing. Not a single fish was caught. I rest my case! Haha!! But, of course, the experience is always more than just catching fish. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and we made the most of our time outside. We spent hours soaking up the fresh air, enjoying great conversation, and, no surprise here, indulging in a few well-earned adult beverages!

When the sun went down, we moved inside for a night of board games! We played several games of Cribbage and Carbles! We learned a new card game - BANG!, which is a western themed card game with outlaws, a renegade and a Sherriff and, although initially confusing, it turned out to be a fun game!

Sunday morning, just as we were packing up, we witnessed the ULTIMATE injustice— another fisherman came over, used one of the holes we drilled, and caught a fish!! I hope he knows that was OUR fish! But hey, at least someone proved there’s at least one fish in Cedar Lake… maybe.  HAHA!!

As always, we’re looking ahead to our next adventure on Cedar Lake — Sandbar Weekend in August. As you all know, I’m a much bigger fan of the sun and water than I am of the snow and ice.

On Monday morning it was back to reality. We’ve been busy spending our week nights fulfilling orders, updating the website, and putting the finishing touches on several new cutting boards that will be making their debut soon.

I hope everyone has had a great week and is looking forward to the weekend as much as we are.  The weather has been starting to turn now in Minnesota and I can feel those warm sunny days approaching!!

Until next time – Stay happy, stay inspired and enjoy the little things!
